Lately I haven't put blogging on my todo list.
Each night I go to bed wishing I had blogged but lately blogging feels so tedious.
Excuse number 1. New office. Back in August my dreams came true. I few friends helped me rearrange a few rooms in my house. Including the computer area. Moving the computer down stairs where it was less prominent in our home. Out of sight. Out of mind. So the sporadic blogging days are over. It's harder for me to find time to slip away from the kids to blog. I feel to distant from the family when I sit down at my computer. It's a good thing. I spend less time on the computer and more time with my family.
Excuse number 2. New Phone. Back in September I misplaced my phone during my travels to Utah. My Brother in law had just upgraded his phone and had an extra iphone he gave to me. I love me new phone but transferring pictures from the iphone to the computer has been painful. It's so time consuming and I still haven't found a simple way to do it. That, crippled by the ease of uploading my cell phone pictures to instagram account, (another way I share our life with the family,) makes it really difficult to want to blog.
Excuse number 3. Lense envy. Lately I've had a bit of lense envy with my nice camera. I'm ready to get a new lense that can work better indoors. especially because it's winter and we're indoors more than I like. I have so much I still need to learn before I would feel comfortable spending money on a new lense. And part of me really misses the days of my old simple camera. (I don't miss the quality).
So If I don't blog as often as I want at least I took the time to explain my absence.
Until next time.
Any suggestions for overcoming my drout are always welcomed.
Updated.
I just published my post and jumped over to facebook for a moment. The very first thing on my facebook page was from Elder Henry B Eyring it read.
When our children were very small, I started to write down a few things about what happened every day. I wrote down a few lines every day for years. I never missed a day no matter how tired I was or how early I would have to start the next day. Before I would write, I would ponder this question: “Have I seen the hand of God reaching out to touch us or our children or our family today?”
As I kept at it, something began to happen. As I would cast my mind over the day, I would see evidence of what God had done for one of us that I had not recognized in the busy moments of the day. As that happened, and it happened often, I realized that trying to remember had allowed God to show me what He had done.
More than gratitude began to grow in my heart. Testimony grew. I became ever more certain that our Heavenly Father hears and answers prayers. I felt more gratitude for the softening and refining that come because of the Atonement of the Savior Jesus Christ. And I grew more confident that the Holy Ghost can bring all things to our remembrance—even things we did not notice or pay attention to when they happened.
My point is to urge you to find ways to recognize and remember God’s kindness. It will build our testimonies. You may not keep a journal. You may not share whatever record you keep with those you love and serve. But you and they will be blessed as you remember what the Lord has done.
I guess Elder Eyring just gave me my own reason to be more constant in my blogging.
So with that said. Let me tell you about today.
The past few weeks have been rough. I got sick, then James got sick, Then I got sick again, Then James got sick. Thankfully the kids have been healthy but we've been single parenting for three weeks and it's been rough. We haven't even made it to Church this year. YIKES.
Yesterday I was feeling the exhaustion from not having the sacrament recently. I was ready and eager to take the kids to Church, by myself. ( James is still feeling sick. )
Today I woke up happy. This morning, after a short morning prayer I sat up. And then it happened. Severe pain. "Oh no" I thought to myself. "This cannot be happening."
To leave out all the details I'll just say I was experiencing the most painful Urinary track infection I have ever felt. For sure I wasn't going to make it to Church, yet again.
I debated between going to urgent care or digging a grave in backyard. I just wanted it to all end.
I had spent the night on the couch, hoping to avoid getting sick again. Since I felt I had lost the battle I decided I just wanted to cuddling up with James.
I drank a bunch of water and then spent 15 minutes in James' warm embrace.
Then Everett woke up. Happy as could be. So we went upstairs, got some pain medicine and woke up the girls.
While eating breakfast I told the girls I wasn't feeling well and that we'd probably just stay home from church again.
The girls lit up with excitement. They where so happy to be staying home from Church again. But Everett frowned and said "Oh no, we are going to Church, you said, we are going to Church." (I did talk a lot the night before about all we needed to do in the morning to get ready for Church).
Everett is officially a sunbeam, yet he has not yet attended his sunbeam class. Every time we've talked to him about sunbeams he's been less than please with the idea.
So I took Everett's response very seriously.
We where going to Church. Maybe followed by urgent care but we needed to go to Church.
We said goodbye to James and made it out the door, close to on time. ( a huge improvement).
Sacrament meeting was perfect. The speakers where sick and so the whole meeting was an impromptu meeting, fully dependant on the spirit.
After Sacrament meeting my body was feeling better, so we ended up staying the whole three hours. Everett walked right into Sunbeams and didn't throw a tantrum when I left. Gwenevere got a CTR pillowcase for her birthday and everything was good.
I was able to pass a lot of blood and my urinary track infection let up.
The Lord does love us. He is in our everyday lives. I was taught what I needed to do, during a sacrament meeting talk, and I know I can always rely on my Savior.
Happy Sunday.
