My first sprint Triathlon

I thoroughly enjoyed my first sprint Triathlon.  And I hope to do more in the future.  I never knew how much I love swimming until I started to train for this triathlon.  I always loved the water but never took any swimming lessons growing up.  So when I decided to do the sprint I asked a friend of mine who is a great swimmer if she could do a few swim lessons for me.  Her coaching was a big help and I found myself wanting to train for the swimming portion more than the other two parts.

Saturday morning we drove to Portland to participate in Grandma Sharolee's Stake's Triathlon. We started at with swimming, I finished in 11 minutes.  that's twice as fast as I had ever done it before.  Not quiet 400 meters.  I was happy with my time.

After swimming I quickly showered ate a snack since I didn't have breakfast and took a few pictures before heading out on the biking portion of the event.

The bike route was pretty flat and about 10 miles long.  It was fun to bike next to Rebecca and chit-chat on our beautiful Saturday morning ride.

then comes me.  this picture cracks me up.  I see a scrawny little boy in this picture, but I love the fierce attitude.  Way to go Me!

My Friend Sarah also participated almost 32 weeks pregnant and looking good.

Up next was the running portion of the event.  Rebecca and I passed Mom as she did her speedy speed walking.  But we where too fast to get our pictures taken so Mom is her to represent the jogging portion of the event.  Yay Mom!  It was a 5K run and ended with LUNCH!  Yep the best kind of race is a race to food.

James, Max and the kids joined us for lunch and we all enjoyed the last day of summer in the sun

Talk like a Pirate Day

It's kind of strange to think that we celebrate this but it's so much fun and we get free doughnuts.

We needed new swords

The prettiest Pirate dress

I found this picture to be hilarious

All three pirates with their loot

Everett thought his sword was cool

Everett mostly just played with his doughnut
After eating way to many doughnuts.  We went back to the car and got ready to take the extra 2 dozen doughnuts to Papa's work.  But when I couldn't find my keys and I searched for over a half an hour, I gave up.  I knew my keys where somewhere in the car, but I was tired and feeling the effects of a sugar comma coming on.  So instead we walked over to the mall and played til Papa could come pick us up and help me find the key.

The best part was we saw our favorite pirate friends Chloe and Rex.  It was a good day, even with doughnut delivery fail.
Everett sure loved climbing at the mall

Grace quickly traded her pirate dress for a princess fairy dress moments after leaving the Krispy Kreme
Happy talk like a pirate day!

We'll see you again next year!

A day in the life

I was writing out some detailed instructions for Grandma Sharolee who will be watching the kids this weekend while I'm away and James is at work.  After typing it all up, I thought to myself. "wow.  I do wonderful things everyday even if I don't realize it."  So I wanted to add my notes to the blog as a reminder of what my daily activities consist of.

This is a typical Saturday

Everett usually wakes up between 7am-8am. He likes to play around, usually does a morning poop, and eats breakfast.  Breakfast food ideas, banana, yogurt, oatmeal or eggs. Frozen berries in the freezer for a treat, or I think we have frozen bananas, and milkshake powder you could do smoothies.

Girls need to get dressed for ballet, they sometimes don't like to eat a whole bunch of breakfast but here are some ideas for them cheerios, oatmeal, yogurt, smoothie, toast, bagels, eggs.  they can eat smoothie Danimal drink in the car on the way to ballet, if they don't eat much breakfast.  If they don't eat they get cranky.

8:30 leave for ballet  (Ballet class starts at 9:00)

Everett will probably play while the girls dance, He may want a snack.  You can bring cheerios or a Danimal smooth drink (with straw) and some fruit pouches.

After ballet you can walk across the street back towards Grocery Outlet there is a Starbucks on the corner and everyone can get hot chocolate.

Hopefully Everett will fall asleep for you on the way home he usually takes his morning nap around 9:30-10:30 and sleeps for about an hour sometimes less, but he needs at least 30 mins.

If he falls asleep on the drive home and it's not too hot you can leave the car doors open and let the girls play outside in the front yard while he finishes his nap.  Or you can bring him inside in the carseat and let him finish his nap down stairs.

If he doesn't fall asleep on the way home bring him inside give him some milk and sit with him on my bed.  If he doesn't fall asleep he'll survive.

If he does fall asleep lay him on my bed or in his pack n play.  He won't fall off the bed.  When he wakes up he sits up and will call or cry for you (depending on how much sleep he got).  If he cries for more than 3-5 minutes he might try to leave the bed and come get you.  LOL  but I usually hear him right away or the girls will let me know when he's crying.

After nap:  Play time for Everett, make sure the girls change into clothes.  Snacks they can eat, carrots, celery and peanut butter, cucumbers, green peppers, cheerios, graham crackers, or whatever you find and want to feed them.

Lunch:  usually between noon and 1 pm the girls will probably want Chicken nuggets in the freezer.  They can cook in the little oven (400 degrees for 12-15 minutes).  Gwenevere is a great helper and likes to help cook lunch.  She can fill the try and start the oven,  she can even take them out but sometimes I help her.  Grace can also help fill the try and put them in the oven.  If she wants to help too. veggies or fruit with lunch.  I like to feed them carrots and peppers while the nuggets cook that way they get their veggies in before they are stuff.  Everett can gum a nugget or two.  He loves canned pairs or you can cook some carrots for him (I'll try to cook some carrots tomorrow for lunch and make extra for Saturday).

Play time or school time.  the girls can play after lunch or do school work.  I'll leave her math book out and you can do a few pages.  Grace can color or practice writing the letter G.  They can also do some hooked on phonics.  Gwenevere is pretty good with that workbook.

Everett likes to throw balls, knock down blocks, swing in his swing, say hi to the bunnies, go on walks and point out everything he sees, play with his sisters, play in the kitchen cupboards, dishwasher and toilet.  Please don't let him play in the toilet  ;-)  But he does play in the cupboard under the sink and it does have chemicals, so I usually only let him play in the cupboards when I'm washing dishes and can keep an eye on him.

Oh speaking of dishes,  Paper plates are above the refrigerate for convenience.  And the dishwasher is still broken.  We use it as a drying rack,  All the dishes in the dishwasher are clean.

Everett goes down for his afternoon nap around 1:00-2:30 just whenever he's acting tired and depending on how short his morning nap was.  Milk will be in the fridge, warm it up and put it in a sippy cup.  Everett likes to sleep with his soft chevron blanket I'll have it in his pack n play. You can rock in his rocking chair in his bedroom or lay on the bed downstairs to put him to sleep.  The girls usually watch a movie while I put him down for his afternoon nap or they can play outside.

He usually sleeps for an hour or two but if he wakes up cranky I try to lay him back down or hold him till he goes back to sleep.  Sometimes it works and other times he just needs help waking up slowly.

Afternoon walks are always fun, Everett and the girls may want a afternoon snack.  You can make cookies for Papa or play a board game.

I didn't put much thought into dinner, James said he's going to try and get off work early on Saturday.  He may want to make fish n Chips or have other plans for dinner.  If not, there are meat balls in the freezer and noodles in the pantry for spaghetti.  Or whatever you feel like making.  Or go get a pizza, pop and a redbox movies for a fun family date night.  I'll leave cash in the girls ballet bag for hot choco, pizza, movies or whatever you want.

Everett needs to go to bed between 7:00-8:00 pm

All three kids need baths and hear washed ready for church.

The Fair

Papa traded work days with a co-worker so he could join us at the fair this year.  We had a BLAST.

We went the day after our anniversary and it made the day feel like a continual celebration, this time celebrating our marriage with the kids.

Lunchtime break and a bit of wool riders only mutton bustin' viewing.
Gwenevere wasn't even tempted to try the sport.

Adding another squished penny to our family collection

The girls earned 5.00 watching our neighbors chickens and this is what they wanted to spend their money on.  Gotta love Cotton Candy

Visiting the dairy section of the fair

Beautiful produce

We got to try many yummy desserts
Papa's favorite part of the fair, the food.

Going on the scary ride and not even scared

This guy is ready to ride the rides like his sisters.  Maybe next year

We went home reluctantly after a fun filled day of dreams coming true.  Seeing the girls ride all the kid rides made me realize Disneyland can wait.  The fair is a cheaper form of entertainment that we can do almost every year if we wish.  Oh happy Day!

Celebrating Family, Celebrating Marriage

It's my favorite time of the year, and it's not because Halloween is around the corner, although I do like Halloween.  It's my favorite time of the year because 9 years ago, I became complete.

We've come a long way and it's been nice to grow and mature with someone who loves you even in your crazies.

This year we enjoyed a relaxing date to the Melting Pot thanks to the Day family who watched the kids for us.  It was fun to spend 2 whole hours together, uninterrupted and eating food! We ate cheese fondue with bread, apples, carrots and broccoli.  then we had salads followed by our main dish.  lobster, duck, teryaki beef, bbq pork, ahi Tuna, and fillet Minoan  all cooked in a broth fondue right at the table.  We had so much fun eating dinner we decided to add a dark chocolate fondue for dessert with strawberries, bananas, pineapple, brownies, angel cake, and cookies.  We ate so much food!  It was amazing.

James gave me a wonderful gift of 4 hours of house cleaning.  I found a lady on facebook who was looking for work while her husband was unemployed and did house cleaning as a part time job.  She came over and together we tackled the basement.  It was wonderful!  I even found friends to watch the girls and Everett slept the first two house so we had some interruptions cleaning time.  This was by far the best present.  I think this might become a yearly gift for myself.

Thank you James for being the man of my dreams.  I'm so glad you and I have so much in common. I'm grateful we've worked towards becoming closer instead of letting time pull us apart.  Even with three crazies that keep us busy all hours of the day (and night) we still find time to hold hands, kiss, and laugh with each other.

I love your sense of adventure, you desire to be self dependent, your love for learning, your active parenting and your awesome dance moves.

Let's celebrate us each and everyday!

Happy Anniversary.

Ever Growing Everett: First tooth

I went into the kitchen to help the girls dish up their lunch when I came back this is what I saw.  He pushed the step stool over to the desk and climbed up.  He was happy pointed to all the things outside.

After feeding him lunch I took him over to the sink to wash him up.  my hand slipped into his mouth and I was meet by his first tooth.  It took me by surprise.  Yesterday he was super cranky (I was too) and I asked James if he could feel Everett's mouth to see if a tooth was coming threw.  Everett's gums weren't inflamed and Everett wasn't upset with us fingering his mouth so I figured he was cranky because I was cranky.

So hurrah for new teeth, hurrah for climbing.

Grow Everett Grow!
