Humane Society Visitor and party

On tuesday we did our play preschool graduation and on Wednesday we had our Sunlit Morning homeschool group come over for a celebration.

I wanted to plan a field trip to the humane society but they don't recommend tours for kids under the age of 7 so instead we had a worker from the Humane Society come to us.  It was wonderful.  She brought a pet bunny named Donkey who was the funniest looking rabbit I'd ever seen.  The kids loved visiting with her and unfortunately I forgot to take pictures.

After our visitor left we had a potluck lunch and played around with some balloons.  Then we took a group picture and brought out the pinata.  I finally brought out my camera as well.

the gang minus a few:  Everett, Adalaide, Grace, Bradon, Benjamin, Gwenevere, Landon, Dillon, Matthias, and Ethan

we taped it up a few times before we decided to give it a rest and just eat the candy.  It was a week pinata to begin with.  But beautifully decorated by Gwenevere

Bingo

We ended our celebrations with a game of bingo.  It was a great celebration and I can't wait to hang out with everyone soon.  I love summer, but i'm kinda sad our group will be done for a while.

Preschool Graduation

Last week we had a busy but fun week celebrating the learning we've done this year.

I ended up staying up til 3 am (Monday night or early Tuesday morning) getting things ready for our festivities.  I'm not a night owl so I'm proud of this fact.  Plus I was able to function the next day.

Graduate gift bags

On Tuesday we had our Play Preschool Graduation ceremony.  Which was a lot of fun.  James ended up working Memorial day so he could have Tuesday off and help out with the Graduation festivities.  He really made it turn out perfectly.  James was our DJ photographer.

The kids made their graduation caps and then the parents came for graduation.  All the parents stood up while the graduates came out of the house and lined up for the ceremony.

Colin, Grace, Gwenevere, Kambria, Makenna, McKayla, Tinsley

We started out by singing our welcome song to our parents and telling them thank you for all the help they gave to the graduates.  Then I proceeded to hand out the graduation certificates.

The week before graduation I did evaluations with each child to see what they knew.  This was Grace's results.

Grace can identify
  • the colors:  Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, Pink, Black, Brown, and White.
  • the numbers: 1 2 3 4 5 6 and can count to 16
  • Letters:  A B C D E  G I O P Q T X Y (The most any of the younger children could recognize)
  • Shapes: cirlce, Triangle, Square, Heart, Star, Diamond  (she missed Oval, Rectangle, Octagon)
During the graduation ceremony I asked each child a series of questions.  Here are Grace's answers

during her questionnaire Grace got shy and had to hide

The graduation was a bit long for some of the kiddos but they all did a great job waiting patiently for it to be over.

Graduation fireworks.  part of the gift basket and by far a favorite for the kids
After everyone had their certificates.  they opened up their box which had a calucator, candy and a firework.  The kids lined up to pop their fireworks and then we ate cupcakes and cookies, and danced to the music until it was time to leave.

I loved watching the kids learn and grow.  I loved having the commitment to teach preschool, if it was left up to me to do alone I probably won't have done half the stuff we did this year.  I'm so glad there where other parents willing to bring their kids every week.

Hands on play

Vangie took us to the Hands on Children's Museum in Olympia on Friday and I had a blast playing with my camera while the kids played.

Everett got stuck with a pink helmet.  I found it funny because that's all we have at our house.
The poor kid doesn't even realize that helmets can come in different colors.

I find this girl to be very pretty.  Papa loves their wild crazy hair.

Everett loves dinos who knew.  I"m so going to collect dinosaurs I think they are so cool.  I just need to learn how to pronounce 99% of their names

Hiding in the maze

A kitchen just his size.

Playing doctor that's what they do best

Then unto the NICU to take care of the babies.  Evelyn was a great sport.

Everett made sure he got his shirt wet before we left

I love the over expose look.  I'm going to have to play some more.

We are so lucky to have such good friends who let us join in on their adventures.

Photo shoot with Bunnies followed by a funeral

The girls wanted to cuddle some bunies.  And right now the bunnies are in the cutest stage so i wanted to do some bunny pictures.

Little Bunny Mamas

Can you tell they love their bunnies?

I can just see this pose in 15 year but with a baby instead

The bunny photo shoot ended a little sooner than I had hoped.  Grace was having a hard time listening to instructions and being kind to the bunny.  I was distracted watching the other girls and trying to take pictures.  I told Grace to sit and hold the bunny . She decided to push the bunny down the slide when i turned away. When i turned back and saw what she did. (Being rough with the bunny.) I yelled Grace. I was trying to get her attention before she really hurt the bunny. But i think she realized she was in trouble so she tried to jump down off the slide and get her bunny before i did. She hit the bunny with her foot really hard and the bunny started bleeding from the nose and month. I thought she had broke the bunny's neck and it would die fast but it didn't so i felt it was best to put it out of it's misery.

Thankfully James answered my calls and helped me to gain composer.  We decided to have the girls make a grave for the rabbit in hopes that it would become a teaching lesson.
