Camping at Mt. Rainier

On Wednesday, Aunt Laura and family, and Grandma and Grandpa Thomas where ready to head home towards Utah.  So the kids and I decided to follow them.  Uncle Will drove down to Mt. Rainier and helped Laura and I camp with all the kids.  Grandma and Grandpa drove through Rainier with us but continued on to Yakama for the night.

Gwenevere had been in Sequim with cousins for the past few days and Papa really missed her.  So we made sure she came home and saw Papa before we headed to Mt. Rainier.

Wednesday night's dinner  Cheetos!  hahahhahahha

And marshmellows

By the time my family arrived at our campsites.  Uncle Will had the tents set up and was starting the fire.  We roasted hot dogs and marshmallows.  The kids came and went in waves throughout the campsite.  Off they would go to explore and play then a few minutes later they would return for more cheetos and then they would be gone again.  I loved seeing 4 different imaginary games going on all at the same time.  Some kids where even playing in two different games at the same time.  "I'm a dog lost in the woods looking for my owner.   But I'm also a judge watching the great bikers perform tricks."

After it got dark,  we gathered up the children, brushed teeth, read stories, and climbed into bed.
Preston reading Spiderman to the girls.

The next morning we woke up, ate breakfast, broke down camp and headed to the Visitor Center.  (thank you Will a hundred times for camping with us)

everyone climb on the rock

It took a while but finally the clouds blow away and we saw the summit of Mt. Rainier.  YIPPEE!  That's about the time we left the visitor center and started our hike.  The kids where super excited to have found Snow.  We stopped and play in every snow pile along our hike.   It was a slow moving hike.

After a fun hike to see a waterfall.  We all made our way back to the cars and drove out the east side of the National Park.  Gwenevere counted 101 "waterfalls"  along our drive.  With her window rolled down she counted every waterfalls she saw or heard.   Sweet memory.  Gwenevere softly counting as we made each bend in the windy road down the mountain.  Everett fast asleep and Grace in between lands of imagination and wonder.

We made it to Yakama close to 5pm.  Uncle Will parted ways with us and continued his adventures north while Laura and I found a Little Ceasers to get some dinner.  It was at this crucial stop we decided we where going to continue our drive and hope we'd make it to Boise before morning.

After filling up on Pizza the kids all climbed back into the cars.  Gwenevere Annabelle and Everett in my car and Grace, Brooklyn and Jace in Auntie Laura's car.

We made it to Boise around Midnight.  Thankfully Uncle Seth and Auntie Ali let us sleep on their living room floor.

In the morning we walked across the street to a donut shop to eat donuts for Breakfast.  YUM!  Grandma and Grandpa Thomas met up with us there.

After Breakfast Laura took Jace to Burlington coat factory to pick out a new suit for his baptism day.  and then we got back on the road.

We arrived in Kaysville around 5pm.

The kids played some more while Laura and I unloaded cars and vacuumed out all the food crumbs.  (best part of the trip)  Being about to get rid of road trip crumbs mid road trip made the rest of the car travels much more enjoyable.  I will definitely be doing mid road trip vacuumings in future road trips.

wow, that was a tangent if I ever saw one.

Anyway,  we bathed children and then went to bed exhausted from our travels.

Good night Utah.
